Choicely is “a voting app for when you want group decisions” that supports different types of voting systems (e.g. allocating tokens, spending a pot of money). Each process (vote, participatory budget, etc.) has a unique shortcode that administrators can send to participants in order to access the specific process. Choicely is compatible with a number of devices: desktop, tablet, and both Apple and Android smartphones. From Choicely’s blog launch post : Choicely lets you host content on each option, and ensures a minimum degree of engagement. It is still and will always be up to you to get the conversation going, to educate and inform, to help diverse views get heard. D21 , formerly Democracy 2.1, is a voting system allowing participants to choose multiple options as well as cast negative votes for the unfavorable in order to reflect a wider range of preferences compared to single-vote polls. In doing so, D21 results illuminate both points of consensus and points of controversy. Results from votes can be segmented by gender, age, neighborhood and profession, information that is gathered from anonymous and voluntary contributors. Additionally, the platform offers data visualization, map analysis, and proposal functionalities. Other polling system features include: brand customization, voter verification (create verified voter lists and invite participants by e-mail or SMS ), online and paper ballots. Frustrated by the endemic corruption and electoral dysfunction of his native Czech Republic, anti-corruption activist, mathematician, and philanthropist, Karel Janeček, began developing the new voting system in 2012. D21 was beta tested in October 2013. The D21 voting platform has been used in diverse project contexts. Among the many examples are: participatory budgeting in cities, stakeholder voting at organization meetings, staff engagement for businesses, and parent participation in school decisions affecting their children. Under the hood, the system applies the Tideman method of ranked pairs to generate a consensus list from the sum of personal ratings. By imposing a logical structure on the messy process of collaboration, the system allows teams to deliberate without falling victim to groupthink or gridlock. nVotes, originally named and functioned as Agora Voting , is an online open source election management system that offers online encrypted and anonymized ballots. In order to access the ballot, voters must enter their e-mail and authentication entry code sent to them by the organizers. Ballots can contain one or multiple questions, and can be list, dropdown, and yes-or-no choices. To try out nVotes, visit their sample election .
