Between August 2012 and August 2013, the West Virginia Center for Civic Life , in partnership with the Early Childhood Council of West Virginia, hosted a series of more than two dozen community dialogues across the state of West Virginia whose aim was to “bring people together to discuss what can be done to ensure that the youngest children in our communities have a good start in life—and to set directions for community action.” See their blog post for more information. The West Virginia Center for Civic Life hired Intellitics to help them translate their standard in-person citizen deliberation format ( National Issues Forum approach) into an equivalent online experience using Zilino. Between August 13 and August 26, a group of more than 40 participants explored the issue and developed a list of recommendations, which were later shared with the Governor of West Virginia and the WV Early Childhood Planning Task Force.
